Defender’s Day

September 14 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Todd’s Inheritance will host a Cavalcade of War of 1812 reenactors and other dignitaries from Fort McHenry and elsewhere, as they commemorate the 210th anniversary of the British land invasion of Baltimore. The Cavalcade will start at Todd’s at 10 a.m. to commemorate the British burning of the Todd farm. Many living historians will be on the Todd grounds to interpret the invasion and display uniforms, drill, blank musket firings, fife and drum music, and the like. The Cavalcade will depart Todd’s at 1 p.m. to travel to the next destination, the North Point State Battlefield, for another living history commemoration, then move to Patterson Park to commemorate and interpret the American defenses on Hampstead Hill. On Sunday, the Cavalcade will be at Fort McHenry to commemorate the bombardment there, which resulted in our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”. You may wish to start at Todd’s on Saturday morning and move with the Cavalcade

OR

at 1 p.m. at Todd’s, War of 1812 expert and reenactor Ed Seufert will give a talk on what military measures the Marylanders took on the lower Patapsco Neck before, during and after the British invasion, especially what new research has revealed about American entrenchments at modern day Edgemere (about where the Senior Center is today, west to Bear Creek).
