The Poe’s of Baltimore – May 2023
Enrica Jang Director of Edgar Allan Poe House, on the Poe family’s contribution to the Revolution and War of 1812. Long before Edgar Allan Poe even existed, the Poe family was noted in Baltimore for their service in the Revolution and the War of 1812. A wheel-maker and later Assistant Deputy Quartermaster General, known to George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette, David Poe Sr. gave much for the cause of Liberty alongside his wife, Elizabeth Cairnes Poe.
